Numbers Don’t Lie: Trump’s DC Crackdown Is Working

President Donald Trump’s crackdown on Washington, D.C. crime has led to a significant improvement in public safety, according to a review of public data from the Metropolitan Police Department.

Trump began cleaning up D.C. on Aug. 7 with the creation of the D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force. A few days later on Aug. 11, the president federalized the D.C. police and deployed the National Guard.

The Daily Caller compared crime statistics from a two week period of Trump’s takeover, Aug. 11 – Aug. 25, to the same period in 2023 and 2024.

Total crime in that two week period has dropped precipitously, according to data from the Metropolitan Police Department. Crime was 21% lower when compared to 2024 and 33% lower when compared to 2023.
