Election integrity is under attack in North Carolina

Election integrity is under attack. Not by those enforcing the law, but by those trying to rewrite it. Judge Jefferson Griffin, the Republican candidate for North Carolina Supreme Court, has faced criticism from Democrats and their allies in the legacy media for his effort to uphold state election laws. He is challenging over 60,000 improperly cast votes, arguing that every legal vote should count and that improperly cast votes should not. That should not be controversial, but in today’s climate, enforcing election laws is now considered radical.

This isn’t about just one election. This is about whether we let unelected bureaucrats manipulate voting laws while failing to enforce state law. Griffin is being falsely portrayed as a threat to democracy, when in reality he is acting to enforce the very laws he took an oath to protect. The real scandal is not with Griffin: it’s with the failures of the North Carolina State Board of Elections (NCSBE), who have allowed improperly cast ballots, ignored state election laws, and completely undermined the public’s trust in upholding election integrity. Judge Griffin isn’t undermining democracy, he’s defending it.

The NCSBE has one job during election cycles: to ensure fair elections and faithfully follow our state’s laws. In the 2024 general election cycle, they allowed ballots from felons and deceased individuals to be counted, failed to enforce voter ID laws, and ignored federal and state voter registration requirements. Their flawed system permitted ballots to be cast without proper identification, enabling 225,000 individuals to register without providing a Social Security number or driver’s license. Griffin’s critics cannot change the law, so instead they viciously attack him personally for seeking accountability.
