BREAKING: Senate Judiciary Committee advances Kash Patel as FBI director, vote heads to Senate floor

The Senate Judiciary Committee voted to advance Kash Patel on Thursday, with a vote of 12 to 10. The issue of his confirmation now goes to the Senate for a vote.

Prior to the vote, Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Dick Durbin (D-IL), as well as others made comments leading up to the vote, with Democrats pushing to oppose Patel.

Grassley spoke about how Patel would be able to take on the “weaponization” of the FBI and recounted how Patel was vital to “expose Crossfire Hurricane” and false allegations against Trump.

Durbin claimed that Patel would “seek retribution on behalf of President Trump” among other accusations. He also encouraged other committee members not to vote in favor of Patel and claimed he would be a “disaster" as the FBI Director.
